How did you get into surfing?

When I was about 9 I think, but I remember having a boogie board way before that. I started surfing with my old man and then with mates. Did a lot of surf life saving as a kid.

Why did you become a surf instructor?

As a kid because I knew I wanted to travel and surf in winter and work outdoors and surf in summer, it seemed like the ideal lifestyle. The best part of being an instructor is when a customer really understands what you’ve explained to them, they start to see the results and how stoked they get.

Why do you work at Surfing Croyde Bay?

I put a lot into the company as manager and basically can’t let it go haha. Also free coffee, and Damo is a true gent.
