along baggy point, IN CROYDE, NORTH DEVON

“Many thanks for the day. Coasteering Croyde was an ideal place to explore the coast with some excellent jumps. Highly recommend Surfing Croyde Bay. They Minibus you down to the area which saves quite a bit of walking.

Instructors managed the group well, especially with a mixture of abilities. My 10 year old, was a bit slower over the rocks than the adults. So they moved us to the front to get a head start. Simple but it worked well for the group.

Hot showers after too which were much needed. Keep up the good work!

The Complete Guide To Coasteering

coasteering guide

What is Coasteering?

It is an adventure sport which involves coastal exploration. When you coasteer, you navigate and traverse an area of coastline at sea level. You do this by rock climbing, sea level traversing, scrambling, swimming, sea cliff jumping and even belly flopping along the coast.

You’ll explore the impact zone, where water, waves, rocks, gullies, caves etc., come together to provide a very high energy environment. You will get an entirely new dimension of the coastline you explore. You get very close to the natural habitat of sea life and fauna.

Discover the stunning North Devon coastline like never before. Baggy Point is a spectacular, wild and picturesque peninsula in North Devon easily accessible from Croyde, Woolacombe, Putsborough and Ilfracombe.

Jump into an adventure that you’ll be sure never to forget. Scramble along the coast and explore smugglers caves, natural swimming pools, and a plethora of marine life. There are even natural whirlpools, rapids and water chutes in which to have fun. Trust us, it’s fun, exhilarating and addictive!

There is a route for you. From first-timer to accomplished adventurer. Choose a trip that is going to be right for you.

Each of our routes has a different level of intensity and adventure. If you have got a particular interest. Maybe high jumps, or nature, let us know. We will advise you of the route that is best suited to your adventure scale.

How Safe Is Coasteering?

Coasteering is a very safe adventure sport. You do jump from rocks and scramble along the coastline, so there is an element of risk. Your coasteer guide always has safety at the forefront of their mind, though.

Your coasteer guide will check the tide and the sea state before your trip. Checks on your safety equipment to make sure it fits effectively are important too. If your guide feels that the risks are too high, then your coasteer will be rescheduled. It should be noted that the minimum age is 8 years old.

You should check that whoever you choose to coasteer with is part of the National Coasteer Charter. At Surfing Croyde Bay we also ensure that all of our guides are also fully qualified lifeguards.
