MEET THE TEAM: ALBI
Meet the Team!
This is Albi, Level 1 Surf Instructor and NCC Coaster Lead. We’re lucky to have had Albi as a core part of our team for 7 seasons now. Our summers wouldn’t be the same without him! We’ve shared some of his instructor profile questions. Get to know Albi:
How did you get into surfing?
Surfing for me started with family holidays in Croyde. I first rode a surfboard when I was 12, but from then on only surfed a week a year. At 19, I went to a surf camp in Costa Rica, and I’ve been surfing since 🤙. I was given the opportunity to be trained up as an instructor at SCB under Damon, and it was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. Now I get to spend every day at the beach, what’s better than that?!
What do you enjoy most in a surf lesson?
When you suggest an adjustment to someone’s surfing, and then you get to see the light bulb moment and excitement when it works.
Why do you work at Surfing Croyde Bay?
Everyone at Surfing Croyde is a friend as well as a work colleague, which creates a super welcoming atmosphere for anyone coming to us for lessons. We get great people coming through the doors for lessons, and people who come back year after year, so we get to see them progress in their surfing lives.
I also love the fact that we have smaller group sizes with the 6 : 1 ratio for lessons. We can build a rapport with everyone in our sessions and have plenty of time to coach individually, and even in public sessions.
As we already mentioned, we’re lucky to have Albi back for another season and as part of our team. Thanks, Albi!👊
Albi has now won Instructor of the Year 3 times. Read the latest post on his 2024 win here.
