Surf Instructor Course Terms and Conditions
Before attending, we recommend you carefully read these Terms and Conditions in full. Please contact us if you or your group have any questions before booking to avoid any issues relating to your course.
Booking
When booking a Surfing England Instructor Course, a contract is formed once the booking is confirmed by Surfing Croyde Bay, either in writing, by email, or verbally.
When making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Due to the structured nature of our instructor training programmes, exceptions to these Terms and Conditions cannot be made.
Minimum Numbers Requirement
All instructor courses require a minimum of 2 participants to run.
If this minimum is not met, Surfing Croyde Bay reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the course. In this instance, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
Surf Development UK Ltd and all trading names do not accept any liability for any loss caused by failure to complete required declarations.
Changing Your Booking
We will make every effort to accommodate changes requested more than 14 days before the course start date, subject to availability.
An administration fee may apply depending on the course duration.
If participant numbers decrease, we must be notified in writing/email. Credit note policies may apply.
Changes requested within 14 days of the course start date will require full payment of the original booking.
Exceptions may be considered in cases of: Bereavement or Serious Illness
Cancellations
All cancellations must be made in writing via email or post. The date of receipt determines the applicable charges.
- More than 60 days prior: 20% of total cost retained
- 28–14 days prior: Credit note issued (valid until the end of the following season)
- Less than 14 days prior: Full balance payable
Non-attendance (no show) will be charged in full with no refund or credit.
Travel insurance may cover cancellations depending on your policy.
Refund Policy
No refunds are given.
Where applicable, a credit note will be issued in line with the cancellation policy.
Course Participation & Requirements
Instructor courses are physically and mentally demanding and involve both practical and theoretical elements.
All participants must:
- Hold an indate, fully qualified Beach Lifeguard Qualification
- Complete all required enrolment and declaration forms before the course
- Disclose any medical conditions, injuries, or medication
- Not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the course
- Follow all instructions given by instructors at all times
Participants should not attend if:
- They have a heart condition
- They are pregnant
Surfing and water-based activities carry inherent risks. While all reasonable precautions are taken, participation is at your own risk.
Surfing Croyde Bay does not accept liability for:
- Loss or damage to personal belongings
- Injury or loss where no negligence is proven
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence
Course Delivery & Conditions
Instructor courses will run in a variety of ocean conditions as required for qualification.
In the rare case that conditions are deemed unsafe, we will:
- Reschedule affected sessions where possible
- Or issue a credit note if rescheduling is not possible
Courses may include alternative land-based or theory sessions where appropriate.
Equipment
All necessary equipment will be provided unless otherwise stated.
Participants are responsible for:
- Report any damage immediately
- Taking reasonable care of equipment
Certification
Certification is subject to:
- Successful completion of all course modules
- Meeting the standards set by Surfing England
Surfing Croyde Bay cannot guarantee certification if the required standards are not met.
Photography & Media
We may capture photos or videos during courses.
By attending, you agree that:
- Your image may be used for marketing and promotional purposes
- No compensation will be provided
If you prefer not to appear in the media, please notify us in writing before your course.
Data Protection
We may contact you with relevant updates or offers. Your data will never be shared with third parties.
Pricing
All prices are correct at the time of publication.
We reserve the right to amend pricing at any time.
Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by English Law.
All parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.

By booking onto a Surfing England Instructor Course with Surfing Croyde Bay, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
