Our different junior squads are regular training sessions for all young surfers of all abilities, for beginners through to elite athletes competing on the world stage.
Each squad is selected on both age and ability with the athlete’s development and best interests the priority. We currently have four squads of varying abilities that separately meet multiple times each week. The training varies depending on conditions, ability, suitability and contest schedules.
Surf sessions are predominately filmed for analysis of technique on all aspects of surfing. These range from expression sessions, repertoire progression, heat drills, contest strategy and scenario. These sessions are always run by at least one, fully qualified surf coach to a maximum of 9 surfers. Constant and immediate feedback is given before, during and after surfing from the waters edge and in the lineup.
Our dry land sessions are focused on improved surfing when performing the sport itself is not an option. These sessions are carefully planned and vary around the athletes contest schedules and abilities. They mainly concentrate on flexibility, strength and conditioning, endurance, balance, coordination, technique visualisation and breath work.
All squad members receive advice on all aspects of surf and fitness, nutrition, equipment and athlete management throughout the year whenever needed not exclusively during squad sessions.
