Meet the team!

This is Liam, on his second season with Surfing Croyde, and a team favourite already. Known by our instructors as ‘the friendliest guy you’ll ever meet’. Always smiling, always approachable, we’re lucky to have Liam on our team. Get to know Liam:

When did you start Surfing?
I started surfing 8 years ago, when I was 12. I loved it from the first day and knew it was something I wanted to get stuck into. I learned to surf with the Wave Project charity. After completing their course, I went to the surf club before volunteering myself and then returning to Croyde to become an instructor. I’ve always loved working with people, and working outdoors, and surf instructing is the best of both!

What do you enjoy most in a surf lesson?
Best part of a lesson for me is seeing the look on the surfers’ faces after they’ve got a great wave they weren’t expecting. It reminds me of when I was learning to surf, and it’s a feeling you don’t forget. Often I have so much fun in my lessons, watching people learn to surf that I forget I’m working.

Why do you work at Surfing Croyde Bay?
As well as having hot showers, great coffee and food, the best view of the surf in Croyde and a brilliant community, working at SCB also allows me to get to know each student with the 6:1 ratio and longer surf lessons. I love meeting new people and introducing them to one of UK’s best surfing beaches.

Thanks for being a part of Surfing Croyde legend 👊
